The song "Subterranean Homesick Blues" by Bob Dylan is a black and white film from the 1960's, the video shows someone with a load of cue cards and as the lyrics roll in the song the cue cards are being discarded, but with different words on it.

The technology used in the video is quite plain and simple. I know this because firstly the thing that i noticed is the way the camera is focused to the person with the cards, the camera dose not move, dose not do any close up or any mid shots it just stays on a long shot for the whole music video.

Another technical point to the video is that it is in black and white, during the 1960's colour television was invented or better yet around. I think that the black and white vision was used because the video for the song is similar to a silent movie where the acting was going on then if someone spoke then cards with what the person said, so i could say this is exactly like a silent movie.

The third technical point is that the person with the cue cards that the camera is focused on in the whole video is completely silent through out the video he is using the cards to speak for him, like he is a mime. But on the cue cards the words are part of the lyrics so when Bob is singing the cards change to different parts of the song. Maybe the cue cards are there incase he forgets the lyrics of the song.

Overall i think that "Subterranean Homesick Blues" is ok, but in my opinion i think that the camera needs to move around a bit more instead of being continuously glued to one place for the music video, and another thing with the camera is that it needs to use different shots like close ups or even mid shots because this brings no excitement to the song at all it makes the music video seem dull and boring in my opinion. Also in my opinion i think the song is very unattractive it brings no excitement to the viewer, where as if we watched a modern song from this year there would be a fizz of excitement in that video that makes the viewer want to listen to song over and over again where as this song dosent show this, but it shows how much music videos have changed through out the 50 years that this was made, it also shows how much technology has changed over the past 50 years .
