The song thriller is a pop song by the late king of pop Michael Jackson, the song was off the album thriller in the year 1982 along with the song Beat it.
The song has many technical features the first feature is that the song has different animals howling in the background to give it that spooky sense about it, maybe the animals howling was used to show the frighting side to the song because when you hear wolves howling you automatically think that it is danger, which gives it the chill that curdles your spine whilst watching the video.
Then second technical feature of this is how they used Vincent Price to do a voice over the graveyard part of the song, when i saw this i automatically thought that while Vincent was talking he was summoning the dead from the underworld back to life just through talking, in addition to this the way Vincent talks gives that kind of gritty dead texture firstly to his voice and secondly to the video which is kind of cool from my point of view.
Finally the third technical view for this video is the effects that are used. Firstly no reflectors were used so the video is constantly dimmed through out the video so it gives that coat of death for the video, secondly the smoke screen effect around the grave is the ultimate halloween trick or treat theme to it, thirdly the makeup used for the zombies and when they turn Michael into a zombie was most probably classed as realistic back then because it gave zombies that gut pouring image they are supposed to have.
Overall i think that this song was pushed to the limit so it can sell itself to the audience by making it look like a mini movie so when it was shown on m.t.v. It was the first music video to look like a film but also the first music video with a story behind it. it was the first music video to be sold to people.
