photoshopped audiobook photos

This photo shows my first location and this photo was taken in the p.e department in my school and the reason why i am talking about this photo is because the objective was to record the sound of a whistle being blown so it could create an echo that could be able to get recorded on the audio recorder. And in this photo it was an excellent place to do a good recording of a whistle being blown because the sound would bounce off of the walls also creating the echo sound for it.

This photo shows my second location on this blog, and the idea was to get recorded sounds of cars or other types of automobiles whilst the door of the shop was closed so the sound was very muffled and a little bit isolated, but i don't think that the audio recorder did not pick the sound up at its best, maybe it was because the gain on the recorder was down low so that not a lot of sound was picked up of the microphone on the recorder.

this third location of this blog shows my school sports hall and the reason why i have chosen to write about this photo is because that as well as this being the third photo of this blog the location shows where a football was kicked to create a sound that has that pounding sound when the ball hits the wall, and whilst the ball was being kicked towards the wall i had to hold the audio recorder near the ball so that i could collect two sounds at the same time and that was the sound of the ball being kicked and the sound of the ball coming in contact with the wall when it was kicked. And the reason why i have chosen this location to record this sound is because there is no walls for the sound to bounce off of, this means that the noise of the football would be continuous and would not bounce off the walls making the sound not fade out.

These two photos maybe separate and look completely different but i can promise you that they are in the same building in my school and the building that the photos were taken in was Portman place, and the first recording was to close thee door of what building I was in and then i had to record someones footsteps behind the closed door but somehow make the footsteps somehow sound like that they are approaching the door so the footsteps would sound like they are getting louder. The second recording was to record 30 or more people at once so it sounded like a i had to record a crowd so i thought that maybe Portman would be the best idea to do because you have a lot of people coming out of d.t, science and art so a lot of people would be talking. And finally the second photo shows where the sound may have travelled to because the location of the sound is quite hollow and the sound has a large area to cover so in that photo i explained where the sound may have travelled to. and the effect that this has on the recording is that the audio recorder was held a fair distance away from the glass of the building creating a faint sound and another problem is that the size of the room also created a faint sound which is reverbed. And with the sound of ambient noise of people talking in a large room, this was a problem because when people talk in portman place the size creates an echoing delay feeling when you get more than one person talking.

In this photo it shows where I do my guitar lesson and the arrow is pointing to where the radio broadcast recording was done and the corner of the room was the best place to get an ambient noise that is in an acoustic environment. because it is very isolated in a corner of the room.

one way to rock

'One Way To Rock' by Sammy Hagar with Van Halen

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnF0L5eeAJ4&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbmFBZThIxc&feature=related

This song is a full out rock song by the red rocker Sammy Hagar for the album 'Standing Hampton' in 1982. The song was written and performed by Hagar in the 1980's then performed it with Van Halen on the 5150 tour and 0u812 tour.

The 5150 tour is known as 'Live without a net.'

When the song was performed with Van Halen the ending changed instead of the chorus being repeated, Eddie and Sammy both have a guitar duel.

The song is unconventional this means that it has no convention where as other songs do, because there is only the live versions of the song.

On youtube there is a cover version of the 'live without' version the video of it has user generated content this means how was the video filmed so in this case the person playing the kramer 5150 guitar is filming himself so he can get views on youtube the total views on youtube now is 72,072 views, so this is another way of selling yourself to the audience to get more views.

The target audience for this piece of music is "wannabe rockers", wannabe rockers are people  who want start off their baby steps to rock music.

I think that the song has a message in it that's saying " one way to rock" which is the"Van Hagar" way of performing rock songs.

Links to dokken dream warriors:

The song dream warriors is a rock song by the band Dokken released in 1986 for the movie 'A Nightmare On Elm Street 3', the music video has two of the actors playing their role for the music video as well as the film, the actors in the music video are Patricia Arquette and Robert Englund. Robert plays his role as Freddy Krueger in the film, and in the music video.

I think that the audience of the song are either the fans of dokken or fans of the 'Nightmare On Elm Street' series.

The differences of this song and the song one way to rock is that this song is a studio version with a video that i could find and i think that the song was filmed on the same set as the making of 'Nightmare On Elm Street 3.'

The similarities of the music video is that the technical playing of the guitar, the technical playing is very similar to Eddie Van Halen's guitar playing. And another similarity is that the genre of music, the genre of this music video is hard rock, heavy metal and this would promote the film as well as the music video.

'Eruption' is a guitar solo which is written by Eddie Van Halen and is accompanied by Alex Van Halen on drums. The whole solo lasts for nearly two minutes, the only Van Halen cd or record is the very first Van Halen record which is called Van Halen.

This solo is also unconventional because it cannot be compared to another song because firstly it is very short and secondly there are no vocals in the song it is mostly guitar that is being played.

The audience for this is yet again 'wannabe' rockers or big fans of Van Halen. And even other famous rock stars like I think Zakk Wylde for example.

In Goodwin's theory with this solo it is a performance because if it was narrative then it would have a story behind the solo and there is not.

goodwin's theory

I agree with Goodwin's theory because one of the theories says that a lot of close ups are used on the artist to sell themselves to the audience, which is true because when you watch a music video if you look at the main singer there would be a lot of close ups on that person or if there is a rock band for example Van Halen then there would be multiple close up shots of different members of the band so that either the singer or band members could promote themselves.

Another convention that Goodwin's theory analyses is that ideas from other music videos are taken to make something similar, this is called intertextuality, for example the Ed Sheeran song "You Need Me" this is a good example because  the idea of colour was taken by Van Halen to produce the song 'Tattoo' which is on the album 'A Different Kind Of Truth'. another idea that could be performed is the song by Blink 182 'All The Small Things' is another good example because it copies ideas from multiple songs 'Livin La Vida Loca' by Ricky Martin is also translated as 'living the crazy life', an idea is taken from that.

As well with Goodwin's theory, the theory tells us that female characters are objectified this means that the female characters could be represented as sex objects, for example the girl band Pussycat Dolls, the way they act makes them look as if they were prostitutes. the reason I have said this is because in their music videos they hardly wear any clothes.

Goodwin's theory also explains that music videos contains performance, narrative or concept. Performance means the way it is performed, narrative means if there is a story behind it and concept means the main idea behind it.

An example of this is:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qcr52GgWjk0
this is a good example.

A bad example is this song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WfQ-hV3WtA

This song is a bad example because it only uses few conventions.
this song uses the convention so it looks like they are recreating one of their past tours from 2007-2008.

The conventions used are :
. Genre
. Close up shots
. Performance
. Star image

van halen she's the woman

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tj3ul98CnRg&feature=relmfu Van Halen 'She's The Woman'

The first video that i am talking about is Van Halen 'She's The Woman' and firstly the lighting in the beginning of the video starts off as an overhead light, but later on in the video there are different lights, for example there are two other light rigs and they are follow spots  and lights behind the stage. In the video as well, each performer has their own spotlight so Eddie has his own spotlight, Dave has his own spotlight, Wolfgang has his own spotlight and Alex has his own spotlight but what is interesting about his is that his reflects off the drums.

In this photo it shows Alex Van Halen on drums and if you look at the details on the drums you would find the same detail as you would find on a car or truck reflector, the details help the light to reflect more when the light hits the drums that makes the crowd or audience more excited.

The camerawork in the video uses different shots through out the video the video uses low angle shots - to make the performers look powerful and dynamic, close up shots, mid shots and i think either long shots and extreme long shots.

This is a long shot in the video, if this was a long shot of the video then Dave and Eddie would be further back.

This photo is a mid shot photo of dave and eddie, this is a mid shot photo because it is only showing half of the stars body, this is different to a long shot because whenever you see a long shot of someone's body when recording a music video it always shows the star's whole body.

This shot is known as a close up shot this is when the camera focuses on a particular part of the star's face and zooms in. This is different from a long shot and a mid shot because a close up only focuses on the head shot, a mid shot only focuses on half of the body in a long shot only focuses on the whole body.

In the video 'She's The Woman' the camera moves round very fast, this makes the audience or fans more excited and with the close up shots of David Lee Roth and the rest of the band this sells the band out and promotes the band's album a different kind of truth, where this song is the second track of the album. And at the start of the music video Eddie does a unison bend with the Dunlop V wah wah pedal or the cry baby pedal which is its correct name.

beat it michael jackson

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRdxUFDoQe0 Michael Jackson beat it.

The second song that I am going to talk about is 'Beat It' by Michael Jackson, this song is featured on the album 'Thriller' that was released in 1982.

The story behind the song is that it shows two rival gangs being brought together by the power of dance, this song also involves an agressive guitar solo which is played by Eddie Van Halen in the song and the only reason why Eddie did the solo is because back during the 1980's Eddie changed the way that guitar is played and was classed as a guitar hero back then, and so he was the best option for the song.

The facts behind this song are that michael wanted to write a typical rock song that was catchy like the song 'My Sharona'. and Eddie performed live with Michael Jackson on the Victory tour.

This photo here is a close up shot of Michael, the close up shot focuses more on what the face is. doing.

This view is a mid shot, I know this because a mid shot only focuses on what half of the body is doing.

jessie j 2 videos

In the video "Do It Like A Dude" by Jessie J, the video has that satanic environment to it, the video itself is quite gritty, dark and gothic. The tune that is played is very urban and hip hop, in the video as well Jessie J is supported by backup dancers that look over heated, stinking, sweaty and very manly. As well in the video the way that everyone is acting is very unfeminist and is much the same as what a man does. The representation of Jessie J in the video would suggest that she is an underground hip hop artist, this would attract teens and people who are fans of urban music.

The visual effects of this music video are generated by green screen. The makeup in the music video is very realistic, for example on her lips she is wearing black plastic studs and other plastic stuff that make her features more realistic. And in the music video as well the mise-en-scene for this is very disgusting and looks like the inside of a deep fat fryer even though it was clearly in a studio.
The props of this video are very realistic, for example there is a part where someone is carving into a pig's trotter is very barbaric. In the video it shows people in a drug factory and people smoking, these two things are associated with men and they are the opposite from anything good.

But in the video 'Price Tag' everything is different from 'Do It Like A Dude,' for example the video shows the lighter side of life and is geared towards a different audience, the two differences between this video and the other video is that this video is very soft and is more suitable for a younger audience.

The camera work in this video is very dynamic - using quick camera movements because there is a part in this music video when Jessie J says "everybody look to the left, everybody look to the right", when she says left the camera goes left and when she says right, as if it was us she was talking to and moving with her inside the video, so the director is trying to relate to the audience through the camera.

The props in this video are very soft and less hardcore than 'Do It Like A Dude' because in this video Jessie J uses the same sort of iconography on her lips but shows that it is more gentle, the next thing that is to be noticed in this video is that she uses the same orange sweat shirt in "do it like a dude" to take the mickey out of herself, one final thing in this video is that we know that american currency is used to be used on a money tree in the video - so aiming at a larger market than 'Do It Like A Dude' was. And the doll's house could represent her childhood or another girl's childhood.

The lighting in the video as well is lighter than in 'Do It Like A Dude' because in that video the lighting is more dimmed so it gives it that dead atmosphere whereas in this one the lighting is more alive and more light so it gives it that happy atmosphere.

In the video 'Price Tag' one of the close ups is an outtake of when she smiles, I think that this was added to give that funny sense to it, and in 'Do It Like A Dude' the close up has that nasty side to it. Finally the video includes the rapper BoB, his role in this video is to promote the music video and the close ups are also done to both stars in the music video to sell themselves to the fans or audience.
