Van Halen Running With The Devil:

The song 'Running With The Devil' is the very first song on the first Van Halen album that was released on record.

The first bit of the song before the open bass line is quite interesting because they were just blares of car horns and this sound was created by Eddie by using a whole bunch of car horns, for some reason a car battery, and then a foot switch then finally the sound was recorded then played in reverse so the sound would sound like it was dying basically. Now when you hear this song being played you would think that Eddie would be using his Frankenstein guitar which was black and white for this album, except he was not he was using one of his shark guitars that he created but it was red and silver. As well with this video, originally I thought that the band used dry ice for the smoke effect but I think that the band used smoke machines or fog machines. As well in this music video the camera techniques are very straight forward because this was a 1978 video and the technology used to record music videos like this were not as complicated as it is now, the shot types in this video focus mostly on mid shots and close up shots but one one occasion an extreme long shot.
